Boy was last night a doozie. We had thunder, lightning, sheets of rain, and huge wind on and off all night. Bec slept through most of it, but Louie had to get up and fuss with the bike after it blew over and make sure that things stayed dry. Louie is very tired this morning, but we have a ride to do so off we go. Our computers are not working. We suspect water in the line, but Louie later finds that the wires are shorting out and fixes them.
Today's ride is different in that most of the way is on a busy thoroughfare. We have the usual high rises, and expensive homes with some regular homes sprinkled in. There are lots of small parks next to the ocean. We notice that there are many police around so we are very careful to follow the rules of the road. We stop at a library to try to upload our story, but the FTP is not working. We are able to check email and our bank account, but that is all.

At the grocery store Bec entertains herself talking to a 94-year-old man who rides in on a big tricycle. He tells her that he was the middleweight boxing champion in 1934. He also was in the Olympics. His mother lived to be 104 years old. Bec tells him her grandmother lived to 105. He gives her a big hug.
When we arrive at Jetty Park, our home for the night, we eat our dinner in the park next to the camp so we can make use of some covered picnic tables. The signs on the tables say that we can rent a table for $25 a day. We decide to be squatters and just eat there anyway. Big cruise ships go by at the jetty in regular intervals with folks all whooping and hollering and bands playing.
A couple of women come over to ask about the bike and talk to us about Florida. They are amazed when we tell them where we are from and what we are doing. They tell us to try to get into private parks rather than state parks because they believe that the facilities are better. They leave to go chase down their teenage daughters whom they fear may be getting into some kind of mischief.
We get camp set up and showers done before the rains come. Louie takes to the tent to catch up on some sleep and Bec heads for the laundry area to stay out of the rain and write about the day's events. It is pouring down rain. We are very thankful for our waterproof bags, an investment that is paying off in a big way. No internet, so our site will have to wait another day for upload.
