Atlantic Coast Tour
April 20th - Andrews, SC to Conway, SC

There is no traffic today, but the road is really torn up. Louie has to ride the bike way out in the traffic lane to avoid the bumps and holes. All the stores are closed because it is Sunday. For lunch we pull off into a graveyard and lay out the tablecloth for a picnic next to some family plots. We figure they would not mind as long as we do not leave trash about on their graves, something we would never do anyway.

We are still searching for WiFi to update our site. We do come across a library, but it is closed. The folks in the fire station next to it said we would need to get a library card to be able to access it. So we still are unable to update anything or get our email.

We are riding through forest again today, both managed and wild, pine and cypress. At one point it reminds us of our ride through Louisiana in that the road is a high point in the swamp. We see huge cranes and turtles, but the alligators must be taking Sunday off just like everyone else in this area.

We do find a gas station/small grocery store that is open so Louie goes in to buy some goodies. He comes out and puts everything away. Off we go again.

Arriving in Conway, we find a supermarket where we can get our groceries for the night. Bec goes in first to use the facilities, while Louie rummages through the handlebar bag looking for his wallet. When Bec returns Louie is already on the phone canceling his bankcards. His wallet is LOST! How are we going to get home without his driver's license? How is he going to drive the U-haul that we need to rent to go over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge? What will happen to his credit cards? Oh dear!

We go on into Conway to look for our campsite. The Conway Marina no longer takes tent campers so we back track to a motel we saw on the way in. Fortunately it is reasonable so we have a home for the night. Also fortunately, Bec has her debit card, which we can still use. After we settle down at the motel, Louie remembers the name of the market where he thinks he left his wallet, The PeeDee Groceries. We look it up in the local phone book and sure enough there it is. He calls and they say they have it and that an employee who is coming this way anyway will bring it by at 5:30. We are loosing our pieces all over the place and kind folks keep returning them to us. We have got to try harder to keep ourselves together or we will never make it to Bangor, Maine.
