Atlantic Coast Tour
April 21st - Conway, SC to Waterway Family Campground, NC

We are up early again this morning even though we have less than 50 miles to do today because we are getting partial to the cool morning air with very little wind. We get lots of truck traffic and folks going both ways to work. A few miles down the road we come across a couple of other bike tourers and stop to talk to them. They just started and are doing the Adventure Cycling Southern tier. They figure they will get to San Diego about the same time we get to Bangor, Maine.
We enter North Carolina and have all our pieces except the $65 that was missing from Louie's wallet when he got it back. We are just happy to have his wallet back with his ID inside it so we can get him home on the airplane. We double check and have our cell phone, wallets, socks, shampoo, and conditioner - all the items we have tried to lose along the way but got back one way or another.

We travel more urban areas today but still the roads are narrow with little shoulder. But, everyone is polite again so no worries except for the few times we have to give trucks a little more room by going off the shoulder. We even get back on a labeled bike route once in North Carolina.
We stop at the bank to straighten out how to get another Visa card. Louie is very happy he is with Bank of America because they have branches everywhere. About the only thing we are missing is Internet. We are still unable to upload our story and get our email to take care of business, but other than that we are proceeding still one day behind. We hope to catch up tomorrow by spending only one day at Carolina Beach State Park.
Tonight's campground is right on the intercostal waterway. We have a shelter with a roof. It looks as if it has seen better days, but the host is nice and the waterway is right out our front door. We have plenty of time to relax and watch the fish swim by. Louie goes fishing with our neighbor. A couple of other cyclists pull in. Dianne and Jeff are also doing the Atlantic coast. Louie thinks he saw them down in Florida a few weeks back. The cyclists we spoke with this morning told them that we were ahead of them so they already knew about us. They are using the Adventure cycling maps so we will see them on and off as we go since our maps are a bit different. However tomorrow we both should end up in Carolina Beach State Park.
