We are riding early yet again to hopefully stay ahead of the winds today, but it is to no avail. Most of the morning we are heading into the wind along the Cape Fear River. The roads alternate between quiet country roads and busy interstate highways. We ride along with many big trucks again today, but at one point they are mostly coming towards us.
We really enjoy Wilmington, North Carolina because we get to ride down a street that has many historical markers explaining about people who lived there and their homes and businesses. We stop at a library to update our site, but we have to be very careful about the bike. Soon a police officer comes to tell us that we should not leave our bike unattended because some of the people around the library would walk off with it. We have no trouble, but keep a close eye on it anyway.

We cannot ride through Camp LeJeune as cyclists could in the past so we decide to make a run for Jacksonville. We have to outrun a lightning storm. We manage to outrun a few rainstorms but one finally gets us and just drenches us. The best part of today is that Louie finds his souvenir license plate for North Carolina. He wishes he would have found one for South Carolina, but did not.
Bec is beginning to tire, but we have to push on. Finally, we find a very nice campground, Cabin Creek Campground, not too far from Jacksonville so we have a home for the night. We really like Cabin Creek Campground. It is clean, has a laundry, and the campsite is nestled between trees. We have a shelter under which to make dinner and they give us the key to the clubhouse so that we can work on the website. It is very reasonable in price, too.
