Ride Report

Old Kenton School House

What a beautiful day for a ride! Twenty-two other people thought so as well. They showed up from Cheryl's spinning class, Tom's work - Freightliner , Wheelmen, and TNT making this as diverse a group of cyclists as you would ever meet.

Louie and I started out trying to be serious about the ride, but found the "Tile Flat Treasures Historical Farm Museum" at 21340 Tile Flat Rd. to be irresistible. We had to stop for a look. We ended up looking for two hours. Roberta and "Tessa" her dog gave us the guided tour. Louie took 69 pictures on this ride of which about 50 of them were of the old farm equipment, tools, machinery, washing machines and more at the Museum. Be sure to check out the slide show. When you are in this area be sure to stop in at the Farm Equipment Museum and tell them that Team Blueberry sent you.

After getting back on the road we started to have so much fun that we forgot to turn on Minter Bridge Road. As luck would have it our friend, John, was right there to save us. He insisted on escorting us for the rest of the ride. He is well aware of our reputation for getting lost even on our own rides! However, we were not the only ones who got lost. One other person wondered around for 70 miles. He even got to the end before we did. Good job! We are the only other people we know of that can turn a 35 mile ride into a 70 mile ride just trying to find our way to the end. In our defense we did spend time feeding the animals. Sheep like triscuits and goats like ice cream cones, but then goats will eat anything we have discovered.

Cheryl was very proud of the four spinning students who showed up to do the ride. They all did the optional climb and were some of the first riders to return to their house. If you are interested in joining Cheryl's class she's at the Murray/Scholls Club, Tues/Thurs nights. E-mail her for some free passes. Tom's group from his work did a wonderful job as well. Two of them were new to the group but only sagged 1/2 way up Mt. Home Road Hill. Not bad for beginners! Most everyone stopped at the store on the map and had a sandwich that they said was delicious. We were too busy playing around to eat.

The next Mt. Home Meander ride will have less climbing spread out over a longer distance making for some killer rollers. Tandems would love it and are encouraged to join us for the second of the series with the Tiger Team.
